Cody Lee, III

Managing Partner

Knute H. “Cody”Lee, III  is the founder of Westward Energy which concentrates on developing oil and gas opportunities in the Western US and has leased over a million acres of land in shale plays domestically. He has developed prospects in Montana, North Dakota, the Rockies and South Texas. Prior to Westward, Mr. Lee was President and CEO of Westbridge Energy Corporation (TSXV:WEB) a public company managing international assets. Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Cody graduated from the Albuquerque Academy, and graduated Hillsdale College in Michigan, with a degree in Liberal Arts. Cody added to his education abroad at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. He is the President of the Albuquerque Petroleum Association, and founded the only Young Professionals in Energy chapter in New Mexico. He also expands his leadership nationally, serving as a Board Member for the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL).

Benjamin Jacobson III

Managing Partner

Benjamin Jacobson III is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of ICP, LLC, a company focused on investing in Exploration and Production (E&P) companies targeting acquisition and development of highly profitable domestic oil fields. ICP was formed to capitalize on cyclical commodity pricing by acquiring distressed and proven producing oil assets while creating value through improved operational and financial efficiencies. Prior to forming ICP, Ben spent time working as a consultant and capital advisor to a high growth oil and gas service company focusing on financial structuring and creating an exit strategy. Previously Ben spent years as an alternative investment manager as well as a 10 plus years as a Specialist and a Member of the New York Stock Exchange as a partner of Benjamin Jacobson & Sons and subsequently 6 years as Vice President of Goldman Sachs after its purchase in 2001.  He directed the trading operations and risk management activities while serving a clientele of major global corporations. Ben holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from the University of Denver. He resides in Austin, Texas with his wife and three children where he serves on the staff of his church as well as certain charitable organizations.

Stephen Gornick, MS

Mr. Gornick has been evaluating oil and gas reservoirs in The Rockies since 1990.  He was hired by Whiting Petroleum Corporation, Denver, Colorado, and built Whiting’s Reservoir Engineering department into a 12 man group with world class expertise.  Mr. Gornick was instrumental in expanding Whiting’s production from 18,000 barrels per day to 100,000 barrels per day over a 10 year period.  With his oversight, the Reservoir Engineering group provided groundbreaking work in unconventional oil development.  The focus of Mr. Gornick’s career has been driving shareholder value through maximizing the recovery of oil.

Dr. William C. Pearson, PhD.

President of Pearson Technologies, Inc. a consulting  company specializing in magnetic, gravity, geologic, and seismic integrated interpretations for petroleum and mineral exploration companies. Dr. Pearson is a partner in Chisholm Partners LLC, an oil exploration company.  He holds a B.S. in Geophysical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and a Ph. D. in Oceanography from the University of Washington.  Dr. Pearson has worked for Amoco, Edcon and run many geological consulting companies with experience spanning hundreds of exploration projects throughout the world. He has written advanced gravity, magnetic, processing and interpretation software to major, independent, and foreign oil companies.

Dr. John C. Horne, PhD.

Dr. Horne is a Sedimentologist and Stratigrapher with over 35 years of technical and management experience in the petroleum industry, He has participated in projects in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and Australia with a background in exploration, development, and data acquisition for energy companies.  Dr. Horne earned his Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Illinois and did a post-doctorate at Louisiana State University. He has taught at the University of South Carolina and the Colorado School of Mines and authored numerous scientific publications on Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Tertiary age strata in North America, South America, and Africa. Dr. Horne is a former AAPG Distinguished Lecturer and has taught industry courses in the applications of depositional modeling and sequence stratigraphy in hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation. These include AAPG field seminars on Ancient Clastics and the Sequence Stratigraphic Influence on Sandstone Reservoir Characteristics of Cretaceous Foreland Basin Deposits. He is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the Society of Economic Paleontologists and Mineralogists (SEPM), the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists (RMAG), and the Wyoming Geological Association (WGA).
